Have you ever wished that you could step back into time, say 100 years or so? I mean, just to see how it really was back then is a passion for many people, including myself.
The world was a very different place a long time ago & the people lived much as we do today. There were victories & there were defeats, & they have all been very well recorded in these old magazines.
Let's take a look at The Saturday Evening Post, February 20, 1915. This magazine was founded in 1728 by Benjamin Franklin & artwork on the cover & on most covers of vintage mags is outstanding. Front cover feature article is entitled "Tish's Spy" & it looks great!
You can always count on lots of great full page advertising such as automobile ads. These make great vintage frames! Buick & Big Ben clocks are featured in this issue. There are an incredible amount of ads in these mags & the articles reflect 1915 times & thats HISTORY!
A Nation on The Water Wagon reflects Prohibition & the lives the people were living under Prohibition laws. We understand more about that when reading paper published while it was happening. Billy Fortune & The Man Who Didn't Care, a cowboy article written by William R. Lighton.
The illustrations on the many pages that are included in The Saturday Evening Posts are phenomenal. The jobs that were available & in general, the way the people lived, & died too, are so real life.
A lot has changed & for the better too, but reading these vintage magazines, does make us realize that many of the mistakes man has made, he has made many times over.
Some of these old magazines are quite rare & very expensive so shop around a little before buying. Check the thrift shops, the local flea markets, garage sales. An antique store will charge a lot for a magazine that is almost 100 years old.
History in the making is what old magazines represent to many. The people who wrote the articles are all gone but their ideas are still alive & well!
