The power of the sun will be our last chance, and Mankind shall better develop the appropriate technology to use our natural thermo-nuclear power plant, before it is for us too late. It has been for decades well known that solar light is an energetic source, and since then, physicists and engineers from all around the world have been creating different alternatives of solar energy systems which produce electricity from light and heat from our star. The main problem has always been that there’s no suitable way to store the energy for long time or in big quantities; the devices used for that purpose aren’t – let’s say it so – good enough to be incorporated in our daily lives, where electricity is perhaps the engine of everything.
But science is a tool that works in silence. Scientist from all around the world now have developed different machines, from a solar power plant to a solar pool heater or a solar water heater, machines that, thanks to the knowledge gained from the laptop’s battery technology, nowadays can store solar electricity much longer and better than even few years ago. Today is easier to find solar garden lights than it was a decade ago, and many cities in Europe are starting to use alternative power sources in a try to stop the global warming. Imagine a system, a photovoltaic electronic device that collects the light of the sun during the day (in the middle of the world deserts and over the roof of every building), turns it to electricity and provides us whit the power that our society needs. Think that it is just an energy's part between 2000 millions that comes to Earth from the sun, the other 1999’000 000 parts spread away deep in the Cosmos. Nevertheless, that only part of energy that we receive from our mighty star is enough to sustain ALL human socio-productive activities.
Some cities now are planing solar lighting systems and work already with prototypes at little scale. That must be the future...
