Being of Italian descent, knowing how to make wine is a staple in my family. Wine making techniques and secrets have been passed down from generation to generation in my family and will continue to been done so through my children and theirs. There are many types of grapes on the market that can be used in the wine making process, such as, Pinot Blanc, Cabarnet Sauvignon, Thompson Seedless, Chardonnay, and even Sauvignon Blanc. In the province of Quebec, there is a limited quality of grapes that can be imported from around the world so many of the grape qualities are not available due to life expectancy of the grape and most of all cost. Grapes, normally sold in cases, can rage from $17 to $40 depending on the quality of the grape. A good price to pay for a good quality grape would be anywhere between $21 to $28 per case. A grape of this quality price will produce an exceptional bottle of wine once fermented. If producing your own wine is not part of your family, there are many regions around the world who produce outstanding wines. For the past few years, Canada has been gaining world recognition for their wines, notably those from the Niagara Wineries who produce astonishing sweet wines and Ice Wines. So head on over to the closest wine and spirits store and don't be afraid to ask them about good wines.

Today we visited a lovely winery and cafe with club46 ( www.club46.com.au ) that is located in Gerringong, NSW. Our winery tour ticket included a starter of bread and semi dried tomato butter, a choice of four mains and a cup of coffee. I chose the tasting platter for 2 and was very impressed with the serving size and quality of food which included smoked salmon, chicken lyonnaise, eggplant, pate, salt and pepper calamari.
