It seems the origins of valentine s day go back to a long gone pagan tradition, sometime in the 3rd century. Others give the credit to a bishop by that name, a man of the early Christian church who died a martyr. The truth is, we don't really care, so long as there's someone around to send us a nice valentine card , and maybe read us a few of those beautiful valentine poems . In time the celebration has grown to include not only husband, wife or lover but family and friends as well, and we wish those we meet on February 14th a happy valentine day as we would a happy new year in January or a Merry Christmas on December 25th. If we still keep that sweet valentine heart for the special one in our life, we also distribute valentine gifts to our friends, either a box of chocolates or a nice valentine card . No matter its origin, valentine s day is now part of our yearly routine, an opportunity to share love and good will with those around us... and since there's never enough of that, let's wish us all many happy valentines day .
