When you think of trailers, you think of trailers, motorcycle trailers, or utility trailers, right? Well yes a trailer is something that recreational vehicles pull behind them. But when referring to movies, trailers are video clips of the process and certain events that happen during the filming of a large movie, or a preview of a movie. For instance, I’m sure everyone has seen a star wars 3 trailer. People love movies and they were so fascinated by how a movie was made that film studios began showing short clips of upcoming movies after the movie had finished. The original trailer clips where not intended for advertising purposes, but as a way to get people bored so they would leave the theatre, and give up there seat to someone entering the theatre. But the movie industry was so fascinating to people that they even enjoyed watching the trailers. Afterwards it became a form of advertising for upcoming films by the movie industry. The first trailer appeared in 1912 but wasn’t picked up by the big moviemakers until 1916 when paramount came out with the official big movie trailer. Of course most of the filmmakers didn’t really bother to make trailers unless it was a big film that they needed to promote. Although most trailers were only made as an afterthought until an advertising company jumped on the bandwagon in the 1920´s. Today trailers can even be found on an Internet movie database.
So today a trailer doesn’t only refer to camping trailers, but to the fascinating world of movies.
