What better than a freshly picked tomato in the middle of summer. In May, you can buy a tomato plant or two and place them in an area where the sun will help them grow fast. Planting tomato trees can be tricky as they will grow fast and big, and you'll need to take good care of them, and on a regular basis. A tomato garden sounds like the perfect hobby but you'll notice that these things need care if you hope to one day eat a full grown red tomato. Many people prefer tomatoe seeds bought in winter, so that they can grow them and save a few dollars. If you have time and patience, it's probably the best thing to do. As they grow, make sure your tomato plants do not fall and break, so you'll need to attach them to a stick or pole, something that will make them stand up while the fruit grow bigger. Now to eat them, try an olive garden salad dressing recipe and you won't regret it.

the tomatoes are coming on nicely, i planted the packet of seeds and then kev and i did an experiment with a tomato from the local green grocers. We cut out and planted some of it's seeds, these seem to be doing even better than the packeted ones although the proof is in the picking......

seeds in a propagator - fairly traditional way to start off the more delicate seeds, especially up here in the frozen north.
