What are stocks? Stocks are a share of the worth of a company expressed in stocks. When companies go public their shares or stocks can be sold in stock exchanges in their country or countries of operation but you can buy a company's stocks even if you do not live in the country in which it operates. Buying stocks is not at all complicated. One has to use a stock broker or their financial banker or any financial adviser. It is common to buy several companies stocks grouped in what is called mutual funds.
Stocks can be grouped according to the area of business. For example a while ago with the boom in internet business and computing there emerged what is commonly called tech stocks although they may include other technology related fields like telecommunications. There are also Canadian financial stocks which are commonly bank stocks. NASDAQ stocks are those stocks traded on the New York stock exchange. Another group are the penny stocks so called because they cost a dollar or less per unit and easily the most affordable stocks.
Some stocks are high yielding right away or value stocks and others are growth stocks which are best bought and forgotten till years later when their value will have risen. Such growth stocks are like those of emerging technologies which are set to gain a big market in the future. For example, green technologies are some of the stocks likely to be growth stocks. Some stocks are constant and will rarely lose value like; gold stocks.
