There’s nothing quite as exciting for us Star Wars geeks as having a fresh new glimpse at George Lucas’ universe. These trans-universal windows come very often in the form of a video game. This is extra exciting for the obsessive fan because he/she can actually BE the Jedi hero of the tale! And let’s face it folks, how many times have you caught yourself wishing in your secret heart that you could use “the force” after spending some time in some form of the fabled galaxy far far away? Well if you find yourself shamefully raising your hand, then you will be guilty of the same thing after playing Star Wars-The Force Unleashed.
As the title suggests, much emphasis was put into the use of “the force” in this game and it leaves fans attempting telekinesis on random objects around the house long after playing it. While the “force” controls feel a bit awkward at first, a few hours of play should be sufficient for the average gamer to begin to feel impressed by his/her “mastery of the force”.
The cinematics are very impressive and the story told fills in many gaps between the Star Wars episodes III and IV movies. New characters are also introduced as well as an assortment of new additions to the Imperial forces. It also has a fair “re-play value” in that there are several difficulty levels and, more importantly, the option to start all over while keeping all the developments made the first time around (such as acquired ability, combo, and force powers, as well as the collection of clothing) so that you can eradicate your enemies the second time around with greater pleasure. On the whole, this game will release the Jedi/nerd in you all over again!
