Seaweed refers to a number of plants that are capable of growing and surviving under water. Most seaweed has a green or pale green colour although some are yellow. There is also brown seaweed. Sometimes seaweed is referred to as Irish moss.

Seaweed is also used as food and can made into noodles, used to wrap sushi and many other uses. There are special ways for preparing seaweed vegetables. This is common in all coastal areas and especially south Asia and Asia in general.
Seaweed is also employed in medicine to make wound dressings, dental moulds, and is a good source of iodine. Seaweed is also thought to cure arthritis, tuberculosis and influenza.
