CAPCOM has finally released the much anticipated follow up to the ground breaking Resident Evil 4. Resident evil 4 was truly a game that raised the bar. It had great graphics, a great story line, outstanding gameplay, and original new concepts. I’ve never met a gamer who wouldn’t place it on their top best game of all time lists.
As with all sequels that follow major successes, the pressure was on to release a game that would be true to the original release while bring something new to the table. Resident Evil 5 partially accomplishes this. The basic game is very similar to its predecessor so right off the bat you know that it is a fun game to play. One of the major differences now is that the main character has a partner now named “Sheva”. While this is a good addition when it comes to avid co-op playing modes, it can tend to be annoying when playing single player mode. For example, whatever weapons or items that are found is shared. Also, if your stingy like me, you typically save your energy power-ups (the herbs…) for when you are really on the brink of dying. Sheva, on the other hand, is very trigger happy when it comes to using up such precious items.
The storyline is still very good. The option of upgrading weapons is still an integrally fun part of the game. X-BOX users are happy too since it is available on their console this time. All and all it’s a very good game and anyone who enjoyed R.E.4 will thoroughly enjoy this one as well.
