There are many types of rescue societies in our comunities. There are companies that specialize in animal rescue like the humane society, or even the greyhound race dog rescue. This society rescues older grey hounds that had been race dogs, but have become to old to race anymore. Without the rescue society these dogs would usually be put to sleep.
The humane society is in charge of animal Rescue issues for most cities. The humane society often gets a bad rap because most people associate the humane society with the termination of an animals life. Although they do practice animal control, their main focus is on animal adoption.
There are other dog rescue societies like the golden retriever rescue society. This society takes care of all unwanted golden retrievers, both puppies and adults, and finds new homes for them. Other breeders have their own rescue societies as well, like the labrador retriever society, and the yorkshire terrier rescue society. This is because it seems so easy to buy a puppie when people see the puppies for sale signs, and then tehy don't know what to do with them when they get that new puppy home. They find they don't want them. Instead of calling the humane society, they can no call the breeders rescue society and that society will find a new home for those dogs. The new rescue form is a great alternative to the age old humane society
