First men used wood to warm their home, turned to coal by the end of the 19th century, and eventually relaid on electricity later on. These days, however, warming our house is no longer our only concern... we also want to keep it cool in the summer and we're surrounded by press button paraphernalia all hungry for Power. With the threat of global warming over our head, and pollution generated fog drowning our metropolis several times a year, we all desperately look around for alternatives... Power is all around us, but the means to harness it are still a matter of discussions. Ocean power offers an interesting option, to capture the endless movements of the waves to produce electricity. The technology to harness tidal power not only exists but it is functional and put to use in several places both in Europe and America. Wind power, of course, we all know. It's ecological, renewable, but windmill power, obviously, requires windmills, and many already complain about the visual and sound pollutions. The solar power is already largely used, non polluting, noiseless... but the cost is still prohibitive. Nuclear power is probably a viable alternative, but regardless of the pros, the word itself somehow scares most of us. The most common of all power sources is still hydro electric power, clean and renewable but, damming rivers do have an impact on the environment. The options are there... and the will to use them, for we all know by now that in the future, for the sake of our blue world, the best power will need to be a green power.

This photo was taken on Paradise Road in West Richland. I went for the sunset ... was upset that the power lines were getting in the way ... then realized, "Hey, this might turn out okay, after all." :)
