Pet adoption came into my life in November, when I had to put my 14 year old Rottweiler to sleep due to his age and health. So in May we decided it was time to open our hearts and home to another dog. In talking with the family we talked about adopting pets and decided we wanted a German Shepherd so I went to the computer and started looking for good breeders in the Toronto area we live in.
While going through all that come up there was one for pets for adoption in Toronto although I had not thought of going to a shelter at this time. We have adopt pets that way before. While looking through all that was listed online I did not find a dog that would fit our 1 dog, 2 cats and 1 frog home, but it did change the places I was looking for a pet for adoption on this occasion.
That weekend we went to the pet store since they are pet adoption agency for several pet adoption centers in the area. We still did not find our new addition, but my mother-in-law did find a new addition to her home. Although they were not able to help us, they did tell us other places to go look.
When we got home it was back to the internet and we went looking for other pet adoption centers and even came across a free pet adoption section. Luckily things went the way they did for us, because we were able to adopt a pet that day. He is a 2 year old purebred German Shepherd whose owners were being relocated due to a new job and could not take him with them so they put him up for adoption at this particular pet adoption agency in Toronto.
If we had not found him that day they would have had to take him to a shelter and he may not have found a home. I have subsequently heard that TLC pet adoptions is also a good option if you are wanting to adopt a pet or put one up for adoption.
