Pests and Pest Control

A pest may be best defined as an organism that men consider to be harmful and want to destroy. This is primarily because pests causes damage to agricultural produce by feeding on crops and endanger livestock. Many may not know that at times certain animals can also behave like a pest when it causes damage to a wild ecosystem. The term weight control is mostly used by doctors and other physical fitness professionals to denote reduction of the total body weight of a person. Weight control is strictly recommended for obese individuals to minimize health risks.

In manufacturing industries, quality control measures are enforced to ensure the manufactured goods meet certain prescribed standards. The quality control systems are often developed in conjunction with other engineering disciplines using a cross-functional approach.

Motion control, on the other hand, is an integral part of automation and widely used in the packaging, printing, textile, semiconductor production and assembly units.

There are several animal care and control bodies to promote and safeguard the delicate balance that exists between animal welfare and animal control. It is part of their activities to reduce the dangers and harm caused by irresponsible pet ownership and to protect pets from abuse, neglect and desertions.

There is a set of measures recommended for infection control that should be followed by people giving patient care at home, or at a health centre or in a hospital. Although total control may not be possible, certain elementary infection control methods such as hand washing, using gloves and aprons, and educating patients and their relatives about infection – can be easily practiced.
