Osmosis is the careful movement of water from one side of the membrane to another in a human body. In human body, this system filters the toxin or unwanted minerals or ions from the body. In the reverse osmosis, particles and impurities are removing from any solution. Osmosis filters the water from the impurities and it is also used to desalt the sea water. Mostly the reverse osmosis is used in the commercial purpose for water filtration or for making water with certain needed minerals, which allow only specific type of minerals to stay in the water. It is also used in certain solution, where water needs to be removed from that solution like; glucose or ethanol.

Reverse osmosis water filtration system is considered to be the most cost effective way for removing the toxins, nitrates, arsenic lead, bacteria and other chemicals. It is also use by the chemical industries, which needed to remove minerals from the heated water at the power plants. This helps the equipment from being corroded and helps in increasing the life of the equipment.

Reverse osmosis system is also good for those locations, which are very near to the industries or the nuclear power stations because water at these places get contaminate with radium and other harmful toxins, which are very important to remove. There are also reverse osmosis units, which are specially designed for the home water filtration. These units do the water filtration by forcing water with pressure through a membrane that has small pores and this is specially designed to remove all the harmful and toxins from the water. Today, home reverse osmosis is the most widely use filtration system for the homes.
