Obama's victory made history, and this has been widely celebrated. Obama's victory made history, and this has been widely celebrated. But I found the speech equally history making and part of the reason why many people were driven to tears while listening to his victory speech.
I must say the speech was well written; it reminded me of the speeches of great leaders edged in history’s memory. But I found the speech equally history making and part of the reason why many people were driven to tears just listening to his victory speech.
I would love the meet the writer of this speech. The choice of words is excellent and will read well for years to come like any other timeless piece of art. The message was well measured too. In this victory speech, Obama touched most of the important areas that will tax his presidency. He touched on home security, foreign affairs, and the economy, unity and race issues effortlessly.
And the speech spoke of America’s history too and the growing pains without necessarily pointing fingers. Memorable lines include this one 'And to all those watching tonight from beyond our shores, from parliaments and palaces, to those who are huddled around radios in the forgotten corners of our world - our stories are singular, but our destiny is shared, and a new dawn of American leadership is at hand.'
And this one 'And to all those who have wondered if America's beacon still burns as bright - tonight we proved once more that the true strength of our nation comes not from the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty, opportunity, and unyielding hope.'
I am sure there is another of the same for inauguration day.
