New York is a big city, and it has over 18,000 dining options. While some places require reservations, others do not. Some will only give you a table if you are the owner’s friend. But don’t let this discourage you; there are many restaurants that accommodate solo diners. For an expensive casual-wearing restaurant in New York, there’s the Union Square Cafe. And For a list of solo dining in NYC, there’s portofolio.com.
Before you decide to arrive, a good city map of New York could come in handy. I would also suggest visiting the visitors´ bureau of tourism when you are in New York. For a complete guide to New York City, and special deals throughout your stay, there’s nycvisit.com.
Now, where to stay? While you might consider staying at the Plaza Hotel in New York, you might consider your other options. If you just couldn’t bare coming to NYC by yourself and decided to bring your pet along, there’s a hotel in New York that is pet-friendly and even has a staff pet psychic on board: the Affinia Manhattan, located at 371 Seventh Avenue. You may reach them at (212) 563-1800.
Now, what to do? Well, I could not imagine going to NYC and not seeing one of my favorite Broadway musicals. If money is an issue, don’t let a tight budget stop you from seeing your favourite musical! And why may you ask? Well, Start Spreading the News! Did you know that you could buy tickets that have not been sold on the day of the performance for up to 50% off at the red TKTS booth? This booth is located on the center island of 47th Street between Broadway and 7th Ave. Now, if the lines are too long there, you may try to buy your tickets at South Street Seaport on the corner of Front and John streets.
Pick from Mary Poppins and The Lion King! Did you know that The Phantom of the Opera has had the longest running time in Broadway history? If you don’t know, this musical is about a repulsively disfigured man who lives down in the cellars of the Opera House in Paris and makes a strikingly attractive soprano into his student. Or you might consider Broadway’s long-time favorite: Les Miserable. Whatever you decide to see or do while you are in NYC, remember that money is not an impediment, and You CAN take a bite out of the Big Apple!!!
