The New Year in all cultures, even the Chinese New Year, is known for many events. The rate of wedding on New Year’s Day is rivaled only by Valentine’s Day for their sheer number. This has become such a big deal that in the last few years there are couples who actually go to the great length of attempting to schedule their child’s birth in time to be the first baby of the New Year. New Years Day is another day of sales for those able to brave the early morning hours after the late night. Many businesses are closed, and in the states it is considered a national holiday. This simply put means all the people who work for the government are granted a hangover pass. Here in Canada New Years is a universal holiday, leaving lots of time for resolutions, champagne and kisses at midnight.
