The neck infection pain that you are experiencing could be due to ear infection neck pain, sinus infection neck pain or other less serious complications like a pulled muscle or tendon or a pinched nerve. However, neck pain can be serious and be indicative of neck infections. There are many types of infection and neck pain and to determine whether you should see your physician you should seriously consider a number of symptoms such as your level of pain, any swollen glands or lymph nodes and any fever that accompanies the pain. If you have an infection on neck then you should see your physician to determine the correct course of treatment as this could be yeast infection neck pain related.

Serious infections of the neck can be fatal and you should seek treatment immediately if you have infection stiff neck as this could be meningitis. Meningitis can be viral or bacterial, but either one has the potential of being fatal. If you are suffering with a stiff neck, fever, headache and neck pain visit your local emergency room or emergency center immediately.

You could also be suffering from a deep neck infection, which is considered a complicated infection that can be due to one or more potential causal agents. Deep neck infections can occur as a result of an abcessed tooth, infection of the salivary gland or an obstruction, thyroiditis or lymphadenitis as well as many other primary or secondary infections. It is important to see your doctor immediately or visit an urgent care facility or even the emergency room as certain infections can be fatal.

Most infection on neck and adjacent areas is treatable and curable with the correct regimen of antibiotics. If you are placed on antibiotics for your neck infection then you must take all of your medication as prescribed by your physician.

Many individuals stop taking their medication once they begin feeling better, however, simply because you no longer feel ill does not mean that your infection has been completely cured. Failing to take all of your antibiotics can cause the infection to resurface and can lead to resistance of the curative properties of the antibiotic when prescribed for any future infections.
