NBC will have to act fast, its competitors will not make any gift

NBC 2006/2007 TV schedule was not the most appealing one. New series such as ANDY BARKER PI or the Black Donnellys have almost all failed miserably after a few episodes only. Even those which have been renewed like Friday Night Lights, Crossing Jordan or Medium are very low in the ratings. The only popular show from NBC is Heroes. But it hardly gathers 15 million viewers every night when ABC and CBS top shows, respectively Grey's Anatomy and CSI, easily get more than 20 millions.
It will not find its salute in sports either. It used to be its comparative advantage. But NBC lost wrestling to UPN. Then it lost College Basketball to CBS. And it recently lost NHL Hockey to ABC. NBC will the 3 next Olympic Games but it may not renew its contracts afterwards.
NBC will have to find new events to get back its viewers. It has recently approached the FIFA about the Soccer World Cup. It may also broadcast female sport competitions which are less promoted but have many potential viewers.
Nevertheless NBC will have to act fast. Its competitors are also ready to cease these new opportunities and will not make NBC any gift.
