Today's technology, combined with the Internet, is allowing many music lovers to listen to more and more music.
When looking in the websites offering mp3 song download, you will most likely fall into two categories, legal and illegal sites.
Illegal sites are most of the time composed of users copying songs from their CDs and uploading them to a server for anyone to download. Other times, they will use P2P software - peer to peer - such as eDonkey or Kazaa, etc...
Luckily, the amount of legally downloadable music far outweighs the illegal sites. Now in this category you will most likely find your music under two sections : free and pay-per-download.
The sites offering free song download will most of the time have either a limited repertoire or will most likely have royalty-free music.
Other sites, such as Napster (www.napster) will offer you full mp3 song downloads for a small price. Some sites will allow you to purchase in bulk the amount of songs while others will only allow a "pay per song you choose" method.
So how does one go along in finding free music to download ? The best way will be to used a good search engine, such as Google (www.google) or MSN (www.msn) and use key words such as "free music download". From then, it's visit and see if any have what you need. Some sites, such as Music Download (music.download.com), will offer a huge variety of free mp3 music downloads while other will only have a limited list.
But whether you go with free or paid for music downloads, the important thing to remember is to stay with legal websites. Royalties, even if you got the song for free, are paid to the artists and this helps them continue writing songs that we want to hear and have. Have fun listening!
