Moving home can be one of the most stressful events we encounter. Deciding how you are going to move is just one of the factors involved, particularly if you are on a tight budget. Unless you are lucky enough to own a truck or van your self you are going to need some way to get all your belongings to their new location.
If money is no object this aspect of moving is not really a problem. You can choose from any moving van or truck lines and have them take care of everything from packing to unpacking for you. If you want to think a little more carefully, one of the best things you can do is make sure you have your van or truck sorted and booked well in advance.
One of the first things to consider is whether you need to rent a van or a truck. As a general rule, if you are moving within a reasonable distance, or don’t have a lot to move then a budget moving van is probably going to be your cheapest option. If you are looking at one way moving then renting a truck is often the simplest and cheapest option. Many rental companies offer helpful lists and advice for free on the internet so you can work out how big a vehicle you are likely to need. Looking up this advice doesn’t mean you have to choose that company to rent from either.
Moving van rentals can vary quite a bit in both their pricing and conditions. As with anything that is going to cost you it pays to shop around. Don’t just settle on the first company you find. Ask friends, read reviews and read the company’s web site if they have one. That way when you finally put pen to paper and rent a moving van or truck you will know just what you are getting for your dollar. This is another good reason for thinking about this part of your move well in advance of moving day.
