Tools are extensions of different parts of our body; a hammer is a lengthening of our hand, which is even better than any hand to hammer a nail into wood or into the wall; a fork is the extension of our hands to eat, the knive is the one of our teeth. Certainly, sometimes is just better to eat directly with the hand, but civilization have several different social spheres, and the tool to eat is sometimes a must of social behavior. The phone is an extention of our voice, that travels accross the space much better than if we would yell to our remote friend, who perhaps can see us, but can not hear us.
The computer is a tool, must be the, as what we have said, an extention of some part of our body. If you believe that the computer is an extension of the brain, you’d be probably right, because, at least, it is the extension of our memory. All information we consider necessary is kept in that sort of mobile memory storage that are current usb memory sticks, and all computer memory sticks are there (as are all other sort of electronic based machines that store information: mobile phones, quarz watches and so on) to help us remember (or to make us forget!) more information than ever.
No brain could compete even against cheap memory sticks because the brain, although can store impressive amounts of information, can’t just simply – remember human nature! – dispose of it everytime you need it... Brain forgets, can’t remember or doesn’t want to remember... Perhaps people that buy memory sticks have not thought about this before. They just need them, as everybody else has now the need of some technology to ease the daily life.
