Annapolis Maryland, the capital city, lies along the Severn River close to the Chesapeake Bay. It was the site of the 2007 Annapolis Peace Conference and is home to the United States Naval Academy. Gaithersburg Maryland is the fourth largest city in Maryland. Home to a diverse population, it has many new urban communities with high rise apartments and suburban subdivisions. Gaithersburg is home to the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Lockhheed Martin and MedImmune AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals.
