Whenever I hear the word lumber, I always think of the typical lumberjack in a flannel shirt with a hard hat on. Lumber or timber is wood that is used in any of its stages for structural material for construction. It can be supplied either rough for finished. The pulp of wood is used for paper production. Lumber wood comes in many forms including pine, spruce and fir. Lumber yards are retail locations that sell lumber and wood products used in construction projects, like building homes or businesses. They also provide construction workers with the use of various machines to refine lumber. A lumber yard sells products that are made at lumber mills, where the lumber is actually cut into boards.
The lumber comes from a lumber company. The lumber company is responsible for cutting down the trees and getting the lumber to a mill where it can be cut and processed. In the United States, the Pacific Lumber Company and the R.P. Lumber Company both provide lumber to various lumber mills across the country. A popular lumber retailer in the United States is 84 Lumber. 84 Lumber provides building supplies to contractors and home owners. Founded by Joseph A. Hardy, 84 Lumber is the premier lumber retailer.
Teak lumber or teak wood is commonly found as a component of monsoon forest vegetation. They grow as large trees and its lumber is used for outdoor furniture, boat decks and in other applications where weather resistance is desired. As a hardwood lumber, teak is durable even when it is not treated with oil or varnish. Timber cut from old teak trees grown in forests is considered more durable and harder than teaks grown in plantations. As with most things in our current economic situation, lumber prices are currently higher than usual. Because lumber is transported, most often from far distances of where it’s cut, lumber pricing is dependent on transportation costs and availability.
