They usually have dogs and cats up for adoption just about any time that you go there! Adopting one of these pets is great because you are giving an animal a home when they do not have any home options at all! Most of these pet adoptions are cheap and the animal will usually already have all of its' shots too!

Look in your local phone book or take a look at www.DexKnows.com to find out where your towns' Humane Society is located! This way you can find out where to go in order to get your pet! Also, at the Humane Society, many of them are now micro chipping their animals. This means that if your pet should ever get lost, you will be able to find them!

The Humane Society will also be able to tell you about the age of your pet, their temperment and more! That way you can see whether you and the pet that you are most interested in are compatiable! This is something that is very important! Also, if you have children you need to find out whehter the pet that you want is good with children as well!
