The classic leather jacket will never go out of fashion it seems. It started early in the 20th century with the leather bomber jacket making the transition from the cockpits of fighter planes onto the backs of men and women everywhere. They had lovely sheepskin linings against the cold of flying in porous airplanes. These are still the classic mens leather jackets. Soon enough the womens leather jacket followed and has never looked back.

The popularity of motorcycling also encouraged the fashion to grow. Leather motorcycle jackets that are still used for that purpose are still available, and designers of these jackets lead the way in defining the fashionable men's leather jacket. However, some people hesitate to buy a new black leather jacket. They would prefer something that is softened and worn in. The best place to look for an antique or used men leather jacket is the internet. Look on websites such as eBay and Amazon and maybe you will be fortunate and find a mens leather jacket that will become a precious heirloom you hand on to the generations that follow.

Of course, there are some high fashion women's leather jackets that are brand new and simply gorgeous. Just about every top class designer has a leather jacket in his or her portfolio. There is something about a jacket made from soft napa, or pigskin, or ostrich skin, that is beautifully warm and luxurious. Beautiful linings and superior designs make a leather jack special.
