Have you ever heard the phrase "pray to Jesus?" or "Take your needs to Jesus?" There might be some people that ask "who is Jesus Christ?" Jesus is Jesus of Nazareth, the central figure in Christianity. Jesus Christ is lord to most Christian sects. Information about Jesus, his life and his teachings come from the four gospels of the New Testament. Christians believe that Jesus is the messiah whose coming was promised in the Old Testament. The first copy of the New Testament did not get written until at least a hundred years after his death. And pictures of Jesus Christ did not get painted until the church was well founded, so they may not even be likenesses of the real Jesus Christ. The life of Jesus Christ is well documented, but the gospels do not really give a date of birth. It wasn't until the year 300 that we started celebrating Christmas on December 25th. Before that it was celebrated on January 6th. Many different Christian religions may vary in many ways, but all of them believe that Jesus Christ is lord.
