What kind of music do you like? Are you a Jazz band enthusiast? Did you know that many types of music stem from jazz, including some forms of rap music?
Jazz is an art form created from music. It originated in New Orleans and Louisiana at the start of the 20th century. But its origins come from concert band music and big band music. Jazz as a genre is difficult to define because it is an improvised music form taken from all different types of music from the era especially blues, swing, hillbilly music, African, and religious music, concert band music, classical music, all types of music. The instruments used in marching bands, and live dance music band were the basic instruments of jazz. Jazz was a way for the black community to express themselves. Some of the great jazz musicians were well studied musicians in other types of music, and some just picked it up, they were uneducated and played by ear.
Today many rock music bands get their inspiration from old jazz bans. Many people enjoy jazz today and when choosing wedding music bands choose jazz bands. Jazz just seems to be the right kind of music for a wedding, so a jazz band does well as a wedding music band.

Taken at 98.5 KFOX radio station with the morning show host Greg Kihn. This is a celebration of the winners of last year's contest, the School of Rock. Two chiors and two bands, from middle schools and high school respectively, were invited back to the studios to perform live on the radio this week. Meriwest Credit Union and an annonymous donor have pledged a total of $5,000 towards each school's music program for winning the contest last year. The four schools are: Castillero Middle School JAZZ Band, Castillero Middle School Chamber Chior, Pioneer High School band, and Gunn High School Chior.
