Somehow we tend to associate Wines and France, but Italy also has a tradition in wine making that goes way back. Under the Roman Emperors peoples mixed it with honey and drank it as an aperitif... and where do you suppose those beautiful vine supporting lattices come from? Ancient Rome of course. Wine is intertwined with the history of Italy, and the best way to discover the country is to take a tour of the italian wine regions. From Sardinia to Sicily one will discover spectacular sceneries, and the many varieties of fine italian wine . But let's face it, such a trip is not within everyone's reach so, we'll settle to buy italian wine instead and get a first hand taste of Italy. The choice is vast, so one will be wise to consult an italian wine guide or to get counsels and suggestions from an italian wine merchant . You'll be the final judge however, for what one considers to be the best italian red wine may not be so pleasing to another... it all a matter of taste. Less known than its French cousins the italian sparkling wine is worth to be discovered, and an italian white wine such as the ''Medici Ermete'' definitely brings joy to any palate. So enjoy the pleasures of Italian wine but remember... always drink wisely.

This is my friend Alfio, who invited me to Decanter to taste his great wine.
Why the photo is blurred? I was drunk!
