Blink 182 fans everywhere were ecstatic when the trio announced that they would be reuniting. Many couldn’t quite believe it, too good to be true, some thought. Perhaps it was just another internet rumour. Yet, it was straight from the horse’s mouth as they announced it live during an award ceremony. Tour dates are already in place and a new album is sure to be on the way.
Great news for sure, however, there is a segment of Blink 182 fans that became fans of Blink’s Tom Delonge’s new band “Angels and Airwaves”. Angels and Airwaves, unlike other Blink 182 “side-projects” had a totally original sound and was quite different from the Blink style. This daring project turned out to be very successful and it generated many fans Blink and non-Blink alike. Angels and Airwaves have already officially released two albums, “We Don’t Need to Whisper” and “I-Empire”.
So the question is; Now that Blink 182 is back, does this mean Angels and Airwaves are done? To many Angels fans, such a sacrifice would not be worth the return of the much adored trio. Yet, in one of those rare instances where life allows us to have our cake and eat it too, Angels and Airwaves fans can rest assured that the band has not dissolved despite Blink’s return. In fact, front man Tom Delonge went on record on February 10 posting a blog on Modlife stating “Angels and Airwaves is never going to go away”. In fact, they’ve been working on a new album since January 2009. Enjoy your cake Angel’s fans!
