There are all kinds of investors. Some choose to stock investment while others choose real estate. Those who choose stock investments have to learn to read indexes like the Dow Jones index as this determines how they earn a profit or not. All investors also have to be well informed and savvy to choose the best investment and also to be able to manage their investments.

Investors often need to work with others, as they cannot do it on their own. They may need the advice of experts in different fields or the legal advice of lawyers. Therefore this is where an investment advisor comes in. Then there are sections in the bank that deal with investment banking only. There are companies whose main role is asset management at a fee, which makes the work of investors easier.

With the ease and wider use of the Internet, online investing is popular too especially for trading stocks. It has the advantage of allowing investors the freedom to take actions faster and control more their own trading, instead of relying on advisors.

Expected return from stocks
Im wondering if i should speculate for short term capital gains or be an investor and ensure long term return. Im quite inclined towards being an investor, but always wonder if i would receive enough return on my investments. What is expected as return from stocks as an investor?
Difference between investor and speculator?
I have made over $2000 over the last 4 months trading on equities. I sell most of my investments when i think the time is right. I’m confused as to whether i’m an investor or a speculator. Can someone help me understand my status please?
