Insomnia
Insomnia is a symptom of a sleeping disorder characterized by persistent difficulty in falling asleep. It is commonly referred as sleeplessness or lack of sleep. There are several people suffering with insomnia, few of them even suffer from chronic insomnia. Insomnia can lead to severe fatigue, anxiety, depression and lack of concentration. Insomnia can be serious, although unlike other diseases it does not kill. All those suffering from insomnia are always on the look out for methods to get relief from this troublesome symptom. Lack of sleep impairs your immune system as well as your body's ability to process blood sugar which may lead to weight gain.

Premenstrual syndrome and menopause are also related to insomnia. The cause of insomnia during this time is because of the different effects of the two hormones – estrogen which makes women alert and progestrone which makes them sleepy. Both these hormones fluctuate throughout the cycle and hence insomnia is the impact. The frequency of insomnia doubles in women undergoing menopause.

Can curing insomnia be possible? Stress and depression are two major causative factors for insomnia. The cure for insomnia in such a case can be by relieving your stress. The cure for insomnia can be by following a few guidelines, which are as follows - Try to go to bed at the same time every night, reduce intake of coffee, tea and soft drinks that contain caffeine, avoid eating large, heavy meals before going to bed, avoid alcoholic drinks in the evening, listen to calm, soothing music that will transform your mind and body into a deeply relaxed state, practice deep relaxation techniques, etc.

There are several natural treatments available for treating insomnia. There are several insomnia medication available in the market. These medications are minor sedatives which include drugs such as temazepam, diazepam, lorazepam, nitrazepam, midazolam, etc.
