Due to the delicate economic situation that financial and credit
markets around the world experience right now, a lot of branches and their industries are having real bad times, and profits have plunged, specially at the construction industry. Even shipping companies sail in turbulent seas, because the international trade has shrunk, and economic recession spreads everywhere.
The current economic order is being reconsidered by economists from a lot of countries, who think that some things would have to change in the future society’s system of production. Some changes have been identified. The new ‘knowledge's society’ is a space where software companies may find the perfect cultural and economic bases for a growing market. The information technologies have rapidly responded to an environmet that changes fast, and every single employee from all computer companies knows that the only way out to obsolescence is to think quickly, to innovate and to try to solve problems acting within interdisciplinary teams.
The changes that oil and gas industry are going to face are unpredictable, but they will determine the mean features of future innovation societies, societies formed by individuals that recognize wealth not just in money, but in rivers, lagoons, trees, corn fields, sugar-cane fields. It is a hard task, because money rules the world, but ethics will rule, they say, and philosophers are working hard trying to find the fundamental ethic which can be incorporated in human values and behaviors.
The way industries have behave with the environment is one of the principal reasons of our today’s calamities, and the ‘capitalism’s ethics’, that conducted (and still does today!) our productive and trade activities must be oriented to different goals in order to achieve that industry, as a human
institution, acts as well as an ‘ethic human being’.
