That was back in the early 90’s, when for the very first time in our lives, we could see on satellite tv things that happened all around the world. Well not precisely from all around the world, just from other few countries of South America (Perú, Argentina, Bolivia, Venezuela), some others from Europe (die Deutsche Welle, TV5, TVE Internacional), and, of course, thanks to satellite tv technology from 20 years ago, we could (my family in Cali, a little violent city in south colombian territory) see the ordinary american television: the Simpson, Friends, Seinfield...

The satellite tv was like another dimension opening itself for a teenager like I was, there, twenty years back in time, when ‘globalization’ was still a word that had no clear meaning. But today, satellite tv is the ‘vogue’; nobody has a tv if he or she hasn’t no signal from satellite tv. Some satellite tv channels that are tuned in our tv device at home offer programs that are unique, specials. The satellite tv was like a miracle for us. Now, that miracle has become such an ordinary thing. That’s progress.
