Hybrid... a word that is now commonly used in the automobile business to talk about a model that works on electricity and has a gas or diesel motor as a backup.
In today's world, almost all fabricants have hybrids SUVs or cars and these can easily be purchased from many dealerships such as ford cars (www.ford.com) or gm cars. But let's look at some of them and what hybrid model SUV they have to offer the public.
Ford cars (www.ford.com) offers two vehicule as being hybrids : the Ford Escape - a small SUV with the option of having an electric motor coupled with the original gas motor - and the Mercury Mariner, a hybrid car for the rest of the people not wanting a SUV.
GM cars (www.gm.com) offers the Chevrolet Silverado Classic and the GMC Sierra as it's line of hybrid pick-ups while offering Saturn Vue Green Line to the lovers of cars and, as of it's 2008 models, two new SUVs, the Chevrolet Tahoe and the GMC Yukon. So, in general, they have hybrids models for many types of customers.
Last but not least, Toyota cars (www.toyota.com) offer two cars in their hybrid department, the Toyota Camry and the Toyota Primus. As for SUVs, Toyota offers now to its customers the Highlander Hybrid.
Why did I not mention other companies such as Nissan cars or Subaru cars ? Mostly because this article is just to give you an innocent of what is available out there.
So remember that although a hybrid vehicle could maybe save you some money on gas, they might not be the best for you currently. Don't hesitate to contact the dealer and request more information about their hybrid vehicles - gas consumption savings per year, extra cost of hybrid, etc... They might prefer to push the sales of their cars to helping you out, which is never good to them in the long run.
Who knows, you might end up purchasing a hybrid for your next vehicle... but that's another story.
