An hunt can be for resource or for recreation purposes.

A spy hunter is a person that is employed to spy on other spies and to expose them. He uses the same tactics used by the spies to catch them sometimes befriending them and earning their trust. During the Cold War, spy hunting was big business as each side sought to catch the 'moles' among them.

Hunting in the wild on the other hand, requires a different set of skills and a hunting dog is not indispensable. Hunting dogs are trained to track down prey, plus dogs can pick up scents in a way that humans cannot so in the thick-forested wilderness having a hunt dog cannot be overemphasized. Today, people hunt mostly for recreation purposes although some of the prey killed is used for food eventually. Our ancestors hunted mainly for food. But isn't job hunting that can be a mean task, not just an improved version of what they did?

Activities associated with the hunt can quite profitable, from shops dealing in hunting equipment to hunting tour planners. Hunting and fishing permits have to be issued by governments in order to protect against over fishing and to protect endangered species. If at all you cannot afford the permits or the equipment that can be expensive you can always release your adrenaline on the Internet through online hunting games.

And you do not have to shoot animals to participate in a hunt. There is treasure hunting too. You can search for a real treasure or participate in the now popular geo caching treasure hunt. If you can afford it and are brave enough go for bear hunting, if not just stick to duck hunting at the nearest pool or lake.
