Hummvee is the short form of High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle developed by AM General for the armed forces of USA. Army wanted to replace their aging World War II jeeps, and they order for a multipurpose infantry carrier vehicle, thus army humvees came into existence. Since then the humvee has become the back bone of the United states army. One of the key variants which has made an impact in the front line of Iraq and Afghanistan is the armored humvee, which provide protection from indirect fire rounds.
