The animal Humane Societies are better known as the Humane Society of every main city across the U.S. and Canada. This group of people stand for a more humane animal control situation as well as offering affordable veterinarian care from shots to spay and neuter.
For example the Ottawa human society has a vet there Monday thru Saturday for appointments and emergencies if need be. The toronto humane society also has several foster homes who take in and work with cats and dogs that need to be socialized before going into a new home. These foster homes also take in pregnant moms and litters to nurse until they are old enough for adoption.
Humaine societies across the country try to take in animals that people can no longer keep and also animals that the regular shelter can no longer house due to limited space. Most of the animal humane societies also take in all animals from the large farm animals to a ferret or rabbit that have been abused or neglected while investagation and charges are pending from the police.
Humane animal control officers can aid police officers with the cases against anyone that has abused an animal which frees up some time for the police officers and allows more abusers to be caught. Although most are not a no kill shelter, it is not their first thought and they do turn to no kill shelters and rescue groups to take in certain animals from them that just need a little more time or help. And as for a human mouse trap you will not find one there!
