For those of you who grew up in the 1950's, HOWDY DOODY was a household name. That little freckled-face puppet was watched in my house absolutely every day. I listed to that little guy intently. And so did just about every other little boy & girl in America!
The Howdy Doody Show was turned on every day-no fail! And that "jingle song" was so catchy, it spread like wildfire! Everyone was humming it!
Buffalo Bob Smith, Don Knotts, & Bob Keeshan, all made up the cast, & HOWDY DOODY was a hero to every kid on the block! And so were the other puppets too!
TV was in black & white, but when The Howdy Doody Show was on, that really didn't matter. Black & White was GREAT in the 1950's! My, how things have changed!
I went to a garage sale the other day & bought myself a real treat. It is a genuine paper HOWDY DOODY CHILD'S BIB, the kind you would put on a baby in a high chair before feeding. Paper treasure doesn't survive as long as the rest, so this, I cherish a lot!
And it cost me $1. Lots of memories for a buck!
