Tired of buying water bottles that are both costly and detrimental to the environment? Then you may be interested to know what the alternatives are. The most obvious and cheapest alternative is to simply drink tap water. However, many are reluctant-and rightly so, to drink tap water since it is vulnerable to different types of impurities and may be full of harmful chemicals and inorganic minerals that the body can not use.
The first method of home water treatment is the “Activated Carbon” method. It filters water through a carbon trap that absorbs contaminants. Similarly, one can opt for the “Carbon Filtration” method which passes the water though a charcoal or solid carbon block to capture impurities. There is also “Water Softening” methods which replace calcium and magnesium with sodium to make it less dense.
No doubt you have also heard of “Distilled Water”. This method boils the water and uses the vapor, which is condensed into liquid, and leaves behind the contaminants. Distilled water is usually recommended for people who suffer from Kidney ailments.
One can also choose a method that is called “Reverse Osmosis” which is a process of forcing pressurized water through a contamination-rejecting membrane.
The carbon methods are available in faucet mounted, countertop, under-sink, and whole-house formats (each respectively more expensive). The water softening method is only possible through a whole-house method while the distillation and reverse osmosis methods are available in counter-top and under-sink formats.
All these methods are safe ways to drink tap water and are easy alternatives to bottled water. Why not ensure your family and the planet’s safety all in one! Don’t forget to drink at least eight glasses a day!
