The hewlett packard company was founded by Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard in 1939. They started in a garage with an investment of $538.00. In the beginning they were somewhat unfocused and worked on various projects. The first successful hewlet packard product was a precision audio oscillator.
One of their earliest customers was the Walt Disney company who bought the oscillators for their movie Fantasia.
Up until the 1990's they focused on making signal generators, voltmeters and other test equipment.
Hp got into the computer market in 1966 with the hp2100 and hp1000. Hp is also acknowledged as the maker of the world’s first personal computer in 1968. In 1984 hp started producing the inkjet and the famous hewlett packard laser printer, and the hewlett packard scanner. Hewlett packard printers are considered to be one of the top manufacturers of computer printers and they became the first to produce the all in one printer.
Today hp is considered to be the largest computer and information technology corporation. Hewlett packard laptops are renown throughout the world.
