I have an electric hedge trimmer. The hedge trimmer I own is a Black and Decker. The unit is very reliable, and I've never had any problems with it handling heavy pruning around my rather large yard. The unit has a special clip also, to deter the plug from accidental unplugging. I would love to own an electric pole hedge trimmer, I have a lot of trees and these trimmers are a much safer alternative than standing on a ladder trying to trim with my shorter trimmer. There is a large variety of trimmers out there, and finding the right one for you should be based on your budget, your specific need, and the range you require to use it. Electric hedge trimmers are great for simple jobs around the yard, but these units can be down right annoying if you have a larger yard, that will require multiple extension cords which become a real pain. The cordless hedge trimmer I own requires at least one 50 foot extension cord, and in the back yard it wont completly reach. I usually end up doing these trees with a manual trimmer. A petrol hedge trimmer offers a greater range, and are more powerful. A garden hedge trimmer is nice for smaller jobs, but I would suggest a larger unit that can also handle larger jobs. A long reach hedge trimmer is a great item to have if you have mature trees, with overhead branches that routinely need to be trimmed. The Stihl hedge trimmer was rated as one the best trimmers available. It has one of the most powerful engines available, and has a special vibration system for added comfort, and stability on those larger jobs. Between the petrol hedge trimmers, and electric hedge trimmers, it comes down to which fits your surroundings and needs. A great electric trimmer is the Little Wonder, Popular Mechanics rated it as the best electric hedge trimmer available today. I hope I've helped you make the choice a bit easier, and good trimming.
