And it will continue to get cold & many of us will begin to ponder about, perhaps, taking that very special vacation we have been thinking about for so long! The snow will come & the decision will be made by many, & so begins the winter exodus of Canadians to the south.
We don't want to be cold if we don't have to, & Hawaii, is one of the most beautiful places in the world. 9 islands, all of them a paradise & not one of them is cold. In fact, everywhere you go in Hawaii, you are walking on volcanoes.
Captain James Cook named the islands of Hawaii, The Sandwich Islands, in 1778. Hawaii is the largest of the islands & it's high mountains provide a variety of climate. Maui, the 2nd largest island, has incredible beaches. The islands of Lanai & Molokai are quite undeveloped. Oahu with Honolulu as capital & home to Pearl Harbor, is next in size. The island of Kauai is composed mostly of sugar cane fields & resort areas. Tiny Niihau is out of limits as it is privately owned & can only be visited by appointment. Kure & Midway are Hawaii's oldest islands.
Pretty well everywhere you go in Hawaii the weather will please you, as well as the friendliness of the Hawaiian people. And the country with the beautiful beaches & mountains & volcanoes are just spectacular!
There is a lot to see so plan your vacation carefully. Figure out exactly what you would like to see in Hawaii & where you would like to go. There are 8 main islands & travelling to all of them can be expensive. Shop around in advance & if you can travel out of season, so much the better.
As the weather gets colder, many of us Canadians will make the decision to go south! And many of us will go to the beautiful islands of Hawaii. Be good to yourself! You deserve it!
