Grant news is all over the place. There is rarely a time now that I can’t turn the television on without hearing about how to get a grant. Even the ads on the internet now are telling you that there are grants available and all you need to do is write a grant. Confusing? It is actually not quite as complicated as it sounds. Grants can help you start a business or fund a project.
Grants are funds dispersed by one party, the Grant Makers, and they can be the government, corporation, foundation or trust, to a recipient and the recipient is usually nonprofit, educational institution or business. The grant application processes, generally require some form of grant writing which is sometimes referred to as a grant submission or grant proposal. In the U.S., grants most often come from a wide range of government departments or a bigger range of public and private trusts and foundations.
There are grants readily available for most endeavors. For example, a small business grant to help get a business started. Grants for small business usually require an extensive application process. Housing grants are currently available in the U.S. for homeowners who wish to keep their homes instead of foreclosing. An education grant is probably the most popular for those who are in school or about to attend. Most often, grants are issued by the government to students through attending post secondary education institutions like colleges or universities.
The term free government grants is usually referring to grants that don’t have to be paid back like loans. They are written and developed by elected officials and are available to entrepreneurs, students, businesses, inventors, minorities and veterans. Several internet websites offer information regarding these free government grants and will actually walk you through the process of applying for a grant. The most difficult part of the process is finding someone who can write a solid grant. Grant writers are very popular in the U.S. and their services do not come cheaply, but often having a grant writer to write your proposal can mean the difference in getting or not getting your grant.
