Since the dawn of Time it has been in the human nature to call on all powerful beings for protection and help in the daily life. The ancient Egyptian civilization had a gallery of gods and goddess whose names live on, even in our modern world. From Anubis to Ra, they still fascinate us and stir our imagination. Egyptian mythology even inspired the Egyptian god cards, familiar to kids the world over through the popular Yu-Gi-Oh animated series and movies. Greek gods and goddesses are at the core of a huge literature that still captivates. The whole Pantheon is familiar to us: the half god Hercules, Apollo or Zeus... who doesn't know the name of at least one Greek mythology god. Throughout History the gods and goddesses competed for the favors of humankind, inspiring books and movies alike: from Homer's Iliad in the 8th century BC, to Augustine's City of God in the 5th century; from the animated Pyramid of Light to Troy or the ever inspiring life of the god Jesus. It may be comforting to know that the ancient gods and goddesses, and the many names of god, will survive, so long as someone remembers them.
