Humor, by any other name, was always a mean to laugh at ourselves. From the 'quiproquo' style of Georges Feydeau and other masters of the French 'théâtre de boulevard', to the Slapstick extravaganza of the early 20th century Vaudeville, humor helped generations to keep their mind off their problems.
It still serves the same purpose these days, and life has not been so bright lately that we can afford to loose that spark. We all need a laugh, and I found that to cheer up my friends scattered all over the world, nothing beats sharing funny jokes and pictures . It has become part of my daily routine; I get up early, brows the Web for clean short funny jokes , and e-mail one or two to everyone in my address book. And the nice thing is that most regularly send their own back to me, really really funny jokes that keep me laughing inside till noon.
It's always done in good taste of course, although we may indulge in funny dumb blonde jokes from time to time. To be on the safe side, however, I've split my address book in two sections; in one those sure to enjoy occasional funny dirty jokes , in the other those likely to resent them. For a limited few I reserve the funny adult jokes I personally found to be very very funny jokes .
Let's face it, these are not the best of times. Many of my friends go to work in the morning not entirely sure they'll still have a job comes super time. Sharing funny jokes won't solve the problem, surely, but if it brings a smile on their face then my e-mail would have served its purpose.
