A real blow for airline company's who offered lowcost trip to their clients. The last 28th of August, it's now Zoom Airline who puts themself under the law of the bankruptcy protection. This company created seven years ago was forced to keep it's aiplanes on the ground. The cause was : the high cost of oil. The cost of operations of the airline was of 50 millions this year when last year profits was showed.
Other airline also offering trip for lowcost can see their buisness slow down. Airlines like Porter and Ryan Air, european transporter are also in a precarious position.
A lot of passengers supposed to leave on a trip had to cancel their vacation. At the Pierre-Elliot-Trudeau airport, the Zoom counter was even put in pieces, leaving the passengers with nothing. Others was still stuck in differents airports of Canada and Scotland. Little consolation for those who went through a travel agency, they can be refunded since they can take advantage of the compensation funds offered to the clients of travel agency's.Those who bought their ticket directly at Zoom with their credit card can be refunded too. However, if they paid, for exemple by postal order, it's a different story.
Zoom airline has two operational base located, one in Canada and another in the United nations. If a lot of travellers saw their vacations canceled, it's close to 700 people who are losing their jobs in this process.
