Do you remember Squeaky The Clown, a wooden pull toy made by Fisher Price back in the 1940's. Brightly painted in red & green, many of us who are older, can remember pulling this Fisher Price clown around wherever we went. Those wooden toys were extremely well built & could take most of the abuse a young child could offer.
Today, Squeaky The Clown, is highly sought after by collectors, and most of the vintage wooden toys that Fisher Price sold, are highly collectible as well!
Toys like The Looky Fire Truck dating back to 1950 have sold for as much as $150 at auctions recently. The Tuggy Tooter, Gabby Duck, The Bell Ringing Rabbit, and Musical Timmy Turtle, are all as popular today as they were when created!
The company started during the Depression in 1930 & has been going strong ever since. During the 2nd World War, Fisher Price made fenders for ships, containers for bombs, first aid kits, supplying the war effort.
The company has been sold a few times & the current owners are the Mattel Corporation. They continue to make great toys. Still keeping with their same style & traditions, Fisher Price continue to offer young children an incredible variety of toys to play with, cherish, & even collect! Today they are manufactured mostly in plastic as Child Protection standards have changed.
The wooden toys are becoming more & more scarce as time goes on. For those bargain hunters out there who don't mind investing a few dollars, a wooden toy by Fisher Price is surely a great investment!
And when you owned the toy as a child, it can be a very special treat!
Hats off to the Fisher Price Company & all the great toys they have created for young children over the years!
