When building a fireplace there are many things to be taken into consideration. First the decoration of the room should be taken into consideration and whether it is to be a regular fireplace or a natural gas fireplace. The dimensions needed will vary depending on if you are going to use electric fireplace inserts or not. There are other security measures to take into consideration when coming up with your fireplace design ideas also depending on if it is an indoor fireplace or an outdoor gas fireplace. You should also look at different fireplace mantle types and which matches your decore better. You should also determine whether you want a mantel or not depending on if you plan on using the mantel or not. There are other considerations that should be thought about as well. Do you have carpeting? So will you need a fireplace screen or not? If it is a natural fireplace you will need a place for fireplace accessories as well. Today, I believe the natural gas fireplace, or the fireplace with an electric insert is a better option than a natural fireplace. The only drawback to these is that you don't get the natural smell of wood burning, but of course, can be compensated with fragrance sprays.
